DeKalb West 8th grade: Fall 2009

Nature
Underneath the rich
blue sky
I sit and stare at the
golden leaves fly.
The wind is so sweet
as autumn moves in
the colors of fall are all
around.
-Ashley O’Conner

Talking Forest
In the forest, there’s
lovely sounds.
When its quiet, you can
hear the heartbeat of
the trees,
With the clapping of
their fall leaves.
-Casey Alderman

Untitled
Crunch, crunch
Is the sound beneath
my feet
As I walk beside the
creek as
Autumn approaches.
-Kaitlyn M.

New Land
Living here is hard
the way here is so far
Farming here is fare
the land her is far from
bare
-Jessi Harbaugh

DeKalb High School: Spring 2010

Untitled
Falling rain, dripping off the leaves
Of trees colors of orange, green, and yellow
Some of the small details
Fall to the ground
As the sound of falling rain commenses
Birds fly to a shelter from the rain.
Everyone is silent just for the moment
Watching the leaves fall
One by one
Everything is breathless
Once again. For a moment.
-Tiffany, Amber, and Scott

Butternut
Breathtaking view
Unexpected animals and trails
Thoughtful guides
Timeless beauty
Exciting
Running creek
Native treasures
Underwater caves
Tassels me softly with all these things
-Brittany C.
